Reality:

Two and a half million California adults are functionally illiterate.

Solution
:
In the Adult Literacy Program, students develop their abilities to read, write and think critically, allowing them to better communicate in today's hectic society. On average, reading increases of 2 levels are made during the first 6 months of work.
  • Open to all English-speaking adults living in Redwood City who read below the seventh grade level.

  • To improve basic skills in reading, writing and critical thinking

  • One-on-one tutoring session, twice weekly, at the library or at one of twelve established sites throughout Redwood City.
