Reality:
|
| Illiteracy is generational.
When parents can't read, how can they teach their children
to read? |
Solution: |
| Families for Literacy is a home-based family
literacy program for parents who want to be able to read to
their young children. On average, reading increases of 2.5
levels are made during the first 6 months of work. |
- Open to all English-speaking, low-literate
Redwood City School District families with at least one child
who is five years old or younger.
- Sessions include storytelling, fingerplays
and language enrichment activities for early intervention
- Families choose high-quality children's books
to add to their home library
- Sessions are home-based, at the school site
or at the library
